I just hopped off a voice coaching call and felt inspired to send you a quick vocal tip—because being heard can make such a big difference in how your voice feels on a daily basis, whether you’re speaking or singing.
Have you ever felt like your voice just isn’t coming out the way you intend it to?
Or that you have to push or strain to be heard?
You’re not alone. This is something so many of us experience at different points in life—especially those of us who use our voice to lead, teach, create, or hold space.
Here’s the beautiful news:
You don’t need to push your voice in order to project it or be heard.
✨ Instead, resonate your voice—don’t strain it. ✨
So, what does that mean?
Healthy resonance happens when your voice vibrates freely through open, spacious pathways in your body—especially in your throat and mouth. This is one of the pillars of the EmbodiedVoice® method I teach, which starts with posture, breath, and grounding (more on that in other trainings!).
But today, I want to share a simple practice to help you tap into this resonant space—right here, right now.
Being Heard – A Resonance Practice to Try:
Begin with a yawn. Really open up the back of your throat and feel the space that creates.
Secondly, let it melt into a sigh, keeping the yawn space open as you release the sound.
Now, imagine the roof of your mouth expanding outward, as if your upper molars are gently widening to the sides.
From here, begin to hum softly, and imagine your sound is gently filling that widened space—even floating toward the back of your head.
✨Notice how much more sound comes through—without effort or tension.
This is resonance.
It’s your voice moving through space, not being forced through tightness.
And that’s exactly what the throat chakra is all about. It’s linked to the element of ether — space, — and the ability to allow sound to move through us with grace and ease.
Much of vocal empowerment is about rewiring the nervous system—so we can speak, sing, and express not from a place of stress, but from embodied presence. We learn to find ease within effort.
I recorded a step-by-step video to walk you through this resonance practice, — so you can feel it in your body.
