About Me

Rush Dorsett is a Voice Coach, Sound Healer, and Performing Artist who supports ambitious creatives in awakening their authentic voice, embodying their power, and freeing their self-expression through her EmbodiedVoice® method.

What lights her up is seeing her clients connect with the power of their authentic voice, release fears around self-expression, and find freedom and joy in their voice!

She received her Masters degree in Voice Science and Performance from New England Conservatory, her B.A. in Psychology and Music from Washington University in St. Louis, sound healing certifications from the Divine Resonance Center in Asheville, NC, and she is also a certified YogaVoice®️ facilitator.

She is passionate about sharing sound healing, music and voice work as tools for self-realization.

My approach to voice facilitation:

Inspired by my training in both Systematic Vocal Technique (SVT) and the YogaVoice® method, I take the ‘elements’ of bel canto vocal technique (including onset, registration, resonance, messa di voce, etc), and apply those elements to the chakras, or energy centers in the body. I listen for the elements in a person’s voice that are strong, and also the ones that need balancing. Often, rather than correcting an imbalance with a vocalise, I’ll have the person connect with their body through a chakra-balancing posture or embodiment practice. This allows the mind/body system to rediscover its own authentic balance first, and then the elements of healthy vocal function are restored as well. The result is free, authentic singing and speaking, and a healthy connection with one’s voice.
